Interpreter Training

I love training interpreters and I have done so for the last 20 years both in Germany and the UK.

Training & Examing

Plenty of experience teaching masters level conference interpreting and DPSI as well as comunity interpreting and tailor-made 1:1 courses.

Post-Graduate Conference Interpreter Training

Course leader and senior lecturer in conference interpreting at universities in the UK and Germany with extensive experience in training conference interpreters, many of whom have gone on to highly successful interpreting careers at the UN, EU and in the freelance market.

Official Interpreter Interview Panel Member

Over the years, I have worked on a number of national and international interpreter interview panels; such as the Chartered Linguists Interview Panel in the UK, the  London Metropolitan Police Interpreter Panel, the ITI Assessor Panel in the UK, and Home Office Interpreter Panel.

Public Service & Community Interpreter Training

I have taught on post-graduate university courses at masters level, the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) and the London Metropolitan Police Test preparatory courses. My Immigration Nationality Directorate (IND) work comprised both first level and experienced interpreter training.

Expert Advisory Panel and Examining Work

I work with universities, interpreter training centres and companies advising on course implementation, course handbook and syllabi development, and assessment in both conference and public service interpreting.  I am also the external examiner for  UK universities on their MA courses and advise on assessments.

Course Creation

My extensive expertise in creating courses ranges from Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) Courses for a number of Chartered Institute of Linguists teaching centres to my flagsip project of writing and then taking on course leadership of the MA in Conference Interpreting for the University of Central Lancashire.

Interpreting Expert Guest Lectures

Available for guest lectures on interpreting and all facets of the profession. I often present on topics such as the “Interpreting for a Legal Expert in Court”, “A Week in the Life of a Conference Interpreter”, “Interpreting for the H.M. Prison Service” or “How to Start Your Career as an Interpreter”. Also, tailored guest lectures on interpreting to meet individual requirements.

Knowing my clients are happy makes me happy, especially when they tell the world about it!

We have hired Kirsty to provide bespoke training to Diversity NI.

Kirsty was an absolute professional. I recommend Kirsty to anyone wanting to achieve high training and interpreting standards. It was a great pleasure working with you, Kirsty. Thank you!

Paolina Hawthorne

Managing Director, Diversity NI

Kirsty is a great trainer and a very inspirational individual too. To me, the difference between leader and ‘inspirer’ is that the latter breathes into the group the excitement and love for the subject. Then it is up to the group to take it. It is a whole new dimension. Thank you for the training. Useful? I think essential.

Daniel Pers

Learning & Development Specialist

I recently took part in the training delivered by Kirsty and I am absolutely overwhelmed by it! Kirst gave me the confidence I needed and provided deep insight into the subject matter. Delivery was very efficient and interesting which made a long day very productive as well. I highly recommend Kirsty as a tutor!
